A collection of stuff I think is interesting. I tried to do this on Twitter - but seriously, who needs character limits?

Missed this story early in the year — it shows an interesting take on the demographic split between democratic and republican strongholds. Every demographer and futurist out there thinks that cities will continue to hold larger and larger percentages of the population, and the fastest growing areas are the densest. In other words, if the Republicans don’t learn to care about cities, they’ll become increasingly irrelevant as our population continues to concentrate in urban centers. Case in point — even staunchly conservative cities like Houston were won by Obama in 2008. What scares me most is not that the Republicans won’t wake up in time to do something about this trend — it’s that I don’t think they are even aware of it.
