GoDaddy.com

Even though I do a ton of web stuff, I always avoided using GoDaddy.com for anything because I thought the whole ‘pin-up girls’ thing was pretty trashy. A few months back, though, they had a promo for SSL certificates for $13, and the cheapest competitor I could find was $70. So, I just couldn’t avoid them any longer.

I just made my second tech support call to GoDaddy, and I think they’ve just converted me into a customer for life. GoDaddy has got absolutely the best customer support I’ve ever experienced. They’re better than T-Mobile, and they’re better than Apple, both of which have excellent service I’ve raved about before.

But, shockingly, they’re even better than the small, local web services company I’ve used in the past, where customer support calls get routed directly to the boss or one of 3 total staff people. Not just a little bit better, a lot better.

The guys I talked to at GoDaddy were friendly, knowledgeable, didn’t try to hard sell anything, offered me a discount I didn’t ask for, and didn’t droll on with beginner instructions I didn’t need. Oh, and they native english speaking North Americans with no accent.

Brilliant. As many customers as GoDaddy has already, if they could somehow replace all their advertising with a “trial tech support call” the competition would all be out of business.
